A Worthy Performance – William, Grade 10

This personal narrative is written by one of my grade 10 students. He has vividly described the setting as well as his emotions, helping readers better imagine the challenge. He has also used a number of literary devices, such as simile and imagery, to help readers imagine the events in the story. Even though he does not directly state his thesis, his message is aptly summed up in the last few words of the narrative.

The Flaws of Society – Shiwunan, Grade 12

This literary essay is written by one of my grade 12 students. He has presented a very enlightening thesis statement, stating the three of the biggest flaws of our society. He has critically analyzed Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, extracting some of the most important messages that the author has tried to convey in her novel. He has included very clear quotes from the novel and provided accurate explanations and conclusions

A Tinge of Gold – Rachel, Grade 9

This short story is written by one of my grade 9 students. The short story conveys the theme that greed may blind one’s morality and cause hardships. The writer’s suspenseful style throughout the story makes it very difficult for readers to guess the climax and the resolution, keeping them on edge right until the last part. Also, the description and imagery help depict the setting and characterize the main character effectively.
