Haikus – Shawn, Grade 4

Haikus – Shawn, Grade 4

These haikus are written by one of my grade 4 students. He has successfully followed the syllable pattern. He has also used the appropriate vocabulary to write about the topics he has chosen. Finally, by writing haikus that make sense, he has exceeded my expectations of a grade 4 student.

Ice:
I am very cold.
I have a very cold name,
And I am called “ice.”

Fire:
Burn and burn and burn,
This is what I always do
Until I am gone.

Wind:
Man! I always move.
I crash into lumpy trees
And keep on going.

Tree:
I am big and strong,
With all my sturdy branches
And my hefty trunk.
