The Flaws of Society – Shiwunan, Grade 12

Religion as a Tool – Alan, Grade 11

This commentary, based on a passage from Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, is written by one of my grade 11 IB students. The writer focuses on Mr. Broklehurst’s level of hypocrisy, proving it by analysing the devices that Bronte has applied in the excerpt.  He has focused on three literary devices, namely irony, imagery, and allusion, to prove how hypocritical Mr. Broklehurst is.

False Love – Shiwunan, Grade 11

This literary essay is written by one of my grade 11 students. He has presented a very enlightening thesis statement, stating the dire consequences of narcissism. He has critically analyzed “The Chaser” by John Collier, extracting some of the most important messages that the author has tried to convey in his story. He has included very clear quotes from the novel and provided accurate explanations and conclusions.

Avoiding Dictatorship – Ali, Grade 10

This literary essay is written by one of my grade 10 students. He has presented a very enlightening thesis statement, stating the steps that people can take in order to avoid falling prey to dictators. He has critically analyzed George Orwell’s 1984, providing support for his arguments.  He has included very clear quotes from the novel and provided accurate explanations and conclusions.
