The Sunhat – Candy, Grade 11

This personal narrative is written by one of my grade 11 students. She has aptly described a number of rising actions, which clearly portray her type of character, helping readers better digest the climactic scene. She has also used a number of literary devices, such as simile, and imagery, to help readers imagine the events in the story. Finally, he has presented his thesis clearly at the end of the story.

The Now Empty Cage – William, Grade 7

This short descriptive piece is written by one of my grade 7 students. He has successfully described the cage and the guinea pigs that inhabited it, helping readers to vividly visualize the cage and the movements of the pigs. He has clearly described the shapes, the colors, the locations as well as the movements. Descriptive pieces are used in various writing assignments, including stories, personal narratives, persuasive essays, and speeches.
